Things to test (non-comprehensive):
  • Load ActiveX control
  • Load doc, rotate, zoom, print
  • Annotate page with drawing tools
  • Export - note that this action previously resulted in doc being saved to "C:\Users\UserID\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Virtualized\C\Users\UserID\Desktop", which is apt to be a bit confusing.

I did my testing with windows 7 and IE 8.  A fresh install.  IE did do the down load of Java C:\Program Files\Oracle\JInitiator 1.3.1.28.  IE hung up.  I removed the third party check and that did now work.  I replaced the JVM.dll file.  Then Added aisweb2 to the trusted sites and allowed pop-ups.  That allowed things to run and sign in.

I was also able to sign in with Fire Fox

Need for this application on Windows 7 is offset somewhat by the presence of native ISO-burning support in the OS.

IBM support notes that SmartSuite will not operate on 64-bit Vista (or later)

There are no plans to implement official support for SmartSuite on Win7

On platforms other than XP (i.e. Server 2003, Vista, Server 2008, etc.), the client/server runtime environment that renders the Windows GUI can get bogged down when drawing poorly designed forms.  Generally, these apparent "Vista bugs" can be fixed by redesigning the form so that fields are not crammed together.

Keep an eye out for Thunderbird 3.0, which appears to have significatly enhanced performance on the Windows 6.x family (and may actually offer native 64-bit support)

The UVM customized database client installer works on Windows 7 without modification.

When using the Oracle Universal Installer (Oracle-provided method for installation) you may need to set the installer to "Vista (Service Pack 2)" Compatibility Mode.  Once compatibility mode is set, the application installs without error, and functions correctly.

Slow when compared to other photo editors... not sure if this is a Windows 7-specific problem.  The upcoming 3.5 release is supposed to contain many performance improvements.
